About the Role

Drivers must operate vehicles in accordance with WM safety policies, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws, performing pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and documenting checks on the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report. They report unsafe conditions, incidents, and service interruptions promptly, attend required training, and work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency. At the end of each route, drivers dump receptacles, keep customer locations clean, complete documentation, and assist fellow drivers as needed. The role involves standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing throughout the workday. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with load‑lift attachments to transport waste and recyclables. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Safely back‑maneuver and load containers weighing over 1,000 lb in high‑traffic, residential, and industrial settings. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and local regulations while driving. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, service interruptions, and customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Participate in scheduled training, briefings, and meetings. • Complete route assignments, dump receptacles, keep customer sites clean, and submit end‑of‑day documentation. • Assist fellow drivers as needed to meet customer needs.

What You Bring

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service for containers that can exceed 1,000 lb, navigating high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots, while residential drivers collect household waste and roll‑off drivers handle large open‑top containers on industrial routes. All roles require highly skilled backing maneuvers. Applicants need at least one year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, be at least 18 years old, and legally eligible to work in the country. A valid CDL Class A or Class B with an air‑brake endorsement is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. • Hold a valid CDL Class A or B with air‑brake endorsement (or equivalent military driving experience) and be at least 18 years old. • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
