About the Role

The role involves maintaining equipment at water production facilities and booster stations, operating and maintaining water mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines, and completing service work orders using company technology while adhering to department policies. The technician must ensure daily work complies with OEPA and PUCO regulations and company safety policies, operate and maintain related equipment and vehicles, read maps, drawings, GIS data, and perform field service and meter‑reading tasks as assigned. • Maintain and service water production facilities, booster stations, and distribution system components. • Operate and repair water mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines according to regulatory standards. • Complete and close service work orders using company technology while ensuring OEPA/PUCO compliance. • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles used for water system operations. • Read and interpret maps, drawings, schematics, and GIS data for field assignments. • Conduct field service representative duties and meter‑reading tasks as assigned. • Communicate work status to customers and management via email and text. • Maintain competent‑person certification or acquire it per bargaining agreement. • Provide excellent customer service and collaborate effectively within a team. • Remain on call nights and weekends, supporting 24/7 operations and overtime requirements.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL‑A) and an OEPA Class I Distribution License within the timeframes set by the bargaining unit agreement. They must also hold a competent‑person certification or obtain it as required, and may be required to pass oral, written, or practical tests to verify qualifications. Required knowledge, skills and abilities include proficiency with computer/tablet Windows applications, excellent written and verbal communication, strong customer‑service orientation, ability to work under pressure, and capacity to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment. The technician must be a team player who can adapt to changing priorities. Working conditions may expose the employee to extreme temperatures, noise, wet or humid environments, and various hazards such as mechanical, electrical, gas, fumes, dust, and poor ventilation. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, travel to various work sites, be on call nights and weekends for 24/7 operations, and perform overtime as needed. • Hold a high school diploma/GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, and obtain CDL‑A and OEPA Class I Distribution License. • Demonstrate proficiency with Windows‑based computer/tablet applications and strong written/verbal communication. • Lift/carry up to 100 pounds and work safely in extreme temperature or hazardous environments.
