About the Role

The chef will prepare high‑quality meals and catering for events, support the Head Chef with daily mess operations, operate large‑scale cooking equipment, deliver exceptional customer experiences, assist with the Food Safety Program, maintain cleanliness of equipment and premises, and manage stock rotation and restocking. • Safety First – ensure every job is done right and everyone goes home safely • Support the Head Chef with daily mess operations and food service • Prepare food using large‑volume cooking equipment • Assist in implementation and management of Ventia’s Food Safety Program • Clean, sanitise and maintain equipment and premises • Support stock management, including rotation and restocking

What You Bring

In partnership with the Australian Defence Force, we are seeking multiple, experienced and reliable Chefs to join our hospitality and catering team in Darwin, NT. Ventia is a long-standing partner of the Department of Defence, providing integrated Defence infrastructure and asset management support services. We help create safe, efficient, and supportive environments where Defence personnel live, work, and train. Candidates must hold an Australian recognised Commercial Cookery (Cert 4) qualification and a current Australian driver’s licence. They need knowledge of food safety standards and legislation, prior commercial hospitality experience, strong customer service, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and must be eligible for Defence Security Clearance, requiring Australian citizenship and a satisfactory AFP check. • Deliver exceptional customer experiences in line with contract expectations • Australian recognised Commercial Cookery qualification (Cert 4) • Current Australian driver’s licence • Sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation and statutory obligations • Previous experience in a similar commercial hospitality role • Outstanding customer service skills • Ability to work autonomously and in a team • Eligibility for Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizen, willing to undergo and maintain AFP check)
