About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to deliver consistent commercial leadership across the RFM Commercial Team and the wider business, provide expertise for resolving contentious commercial items, and drive commercial improvement by ensuring appropriate structures and staffing are in place. Additionally, the role supports the RFM Bid Team with strategic commercial direction. Key commercial leadership duties include acting as the chief commercial resource for the senior leadership team, leading the approach to contentious items and aged debt management, driving commercial performance at both business and project levels, and sharing best‑practice insights from the wider facilities‑management industry. The Head of Commercial also ensures commercial resilience through regular audits, maintains a robust succession plan, and can deputise for the Commercial Director when required. In the improvement arena, the role leads risk‑based commercial enhancement activities, conducts contract compliance and health‑check reviews, and delivers regular training to raise commercial acumen across the organisation. For the bid process, the Head of Commercial owns the commercial element from inception to mobilisation, advises bid team members, scopes and prices work, manages external legal resources, negotiates contracts, evaluates pricing risks, and ensures effective mobilisation of the commercial workstream. • Provide commercial leadership to the RFM Commercial Team and wider business • Resolve significant contentious commercial items and manage aged debt risk • Drive commercial performance across the business and individual projects • Identify and share industry best practices within RFM • Maintain commercial resilience through regular audits • Develop and maintain a robust succession plan • Lead risk‑based commercial improvement activities • Conduct contract compliance and commercial health‑check reviews • Deliver regular commercial training to improve business acumen • Own the commercial element of bids from inception to mobilisation • Advise and support bid team members on commercial matters • Scope, price and manage external legal resources for bids • Negotiate contracts and evaluate pricing risks throughout the bid process • Ensure effective mobilisation of contracts for the commercial workstream

What You Bring

Candidates should hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or possess equivalent facilities‑management experience, have experience negotiating or operating FM contracts (PFI/PPP/NPD knowledge is advantageous), be proficient with NEC contracts, and demonstrate a high level of numeracy, literacy and a proactive, customer‑focused attitude. • Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or relevant FM industry experience • Experience negotiating or operating FM contracts (PFI/PPP/NPD desirable) • Proficient with NEC contract procedures • Demonstrate high numeracy and literacy skills
