About the Role

The Sr. Chemist role leads and manages chemistry programs within the Clean Energy Center, overseeing data review, performance monitoring, regulatory compliance, and instrument maintenance while functioning with minimal oversight. The position also involves mentoring staff, handling special projects, and collaborating across departments to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. • Manage chemistry programs through data review, CEC walkdowns, troubleshooting, and implementation of performance‑improving strategies. • Communicate chemistry issues and performance needs with CEC management and other departments. • Contribute to Chemistry and CEC Performance Indicators. • Oversee chemistry vendors and contracts. • Prepare and manage budgets for assigned chemistry programs. • Provide input to corrective‑action programs and CEC work‑management meetings. • Lead special projects as required. • Participate in training, attend CEC/industry sessions, and develop/deliver chemistry lesson plans. • Provide leadership and mentoring, develop backups, direct key projects, and assist in CEC vision setting. • Participate in Emergency Response Organization and chemistry duty rotation, including on‑call support. • Maintain required access levels and pass relevant medical examinations.

What You Bring

Candidates must meet minimum education and experience requirements, with alternatives ranging from a bachelor’s degree in chemistry to extensive on‑the‑job experience, and must satisfy access and medical criteria. Preferred applicants bring technical degrees and specialized nuclear‑plant chemistry experience, enhancing their ability to drive program improvements and support emergency response efforts. • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related physical science with 5+ years experience, or equivalent education/experience combinations. • Preferred: technical degree in chemistry, engineering, or related science. • Preferred: experience with radiochemistry, primary chemistry, raw water, or quality control programs. • Preferred: 3+ years professional chemistry experience at a commercial nuclear power plant. • Preferred: 8 years nuclear plant experience with at least 5 years in operations, chemistry, or radwaste.
