About the Role
The Superintendent will oversee coordination, planning, and supervision of assistant superintendents, contractors, and crews, manage schedules, logistics, and resource utilization, ensure safety and quality, and foster collaboration with design engineers and partner superintendents. They will also develop customer relationships by delivering excellent service. • Develop and execute detailed project schedules, aligning materials, equipment, and inspections with timeline requirements. • Assess construction and contract documents for completeness, constructability, and compliance. • Coordinate specifications with design engineers, resolving any discrepancies. • Create and manage three‑ and six‑week look‑ahead schedules and comprehensive site logistics plans. • Oversee utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment while collaborating with partner superintendents. • Lead on‑site orientations, pre‑construction planning sessions, and regular site meetings. • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant superintendents, foremen, and crew members. • Conduct hiring, transfers, and terminations for craft team members; ensure accurate task coding on timecards. • Monitor work progress, craft productivity, and verify that all team members receive required training before task commencement. • Provide high‑level oversight of safety, quality, risk, and compliance, and mitigate unfavorable working conditions. • Identify opportunities for process and procedural improvements and implement corrective actions.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Superintendent II for its Civil Group, capable of interacting with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment while maintaining flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, and confidentiality. The role requires earthwork and commercial/industrial site development experience from start to finish and involves 100% travel with regular home rotations every three weeks for four days. Candidates must hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or possess 10 years of trade experience, along with at least eight years in construction and two years in a supervisory capacity. Required skills include detail orientation, basic knowledge of construction law, intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency, strong customer service, the ability to interpret Mortenson policies, a valid driver’s license, and the capacity to travel full time. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years of trade experience. • Minimum eight years of construction experience with at least two years in a supervisory role. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects with strong attention to detail. • Basic understanding of construction law and standard business practices. • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and excellent customer service skills. • Ability to interpret and apply Mortenson policies professionally. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 100% of the time.
