About the Role

Your primary impact will be to achieve and exceed assigned sales quotas by developing new business and expanding existing accounts across the western United States. You will build and maintain strong customer relationships, understand their needs, and align solutions to deliver value, while proactively addressing challenges, escalating issues early, and driving deals to closure with urgency. Managing a robust sales pipeline in CRM tools such as Salesforce, collaborating with product management, marketing, engineering, and channel partners, and leveraging competitive intelligence to identify new market opportunities are key components of the role. • Meet or exceed sales targets by acquiring new customers and growing existing accounts in the western U.S. market. • Cultivate and maintain deep customer relationships to understand needs and deliver tailored automation solutions. • Drive deals to closure with urgency, proactively resolving challenges and escalating issues as needed. • Build and manage a qualified sales pipeline using Salesforce, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely opportunity progression. • Partner with product management, marketing, engineering, and channel partners to create comprehensive solutions. • Identify emerging market opportunities and leverage competitive intelligence to position Hitachi Energy as a technology leader. • Protect profit margins through value‑based selling, minimizing discounting, and emphasizing solution differentiation. • Apply data‑driven insights to accelerate sales cycles and inform strategic decisions. • Ensure all sales activities comply with corporate policies, ethical standards, and reporting requirements. • Travel extensively across the western United States to meet customer needs.

What You Bring

Success in this position requires constructively challenging internal and external barriers to win deals, demonstrating decisive customer advocacy, and maintaining a bias for action. Ownership, resilience, and a collaborative mindset are essential, as is a willingness to share knowledge, embrace coaching and feedback, and continuously improve performance using data and analytics. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field (an MBA is a plus) and brings at least seven years of technical sales experience, preferably in automation, protection, or communication systems. A proven track record of quota attainment and new‑business development, deep knowledge of substation automation, protective relays, RTUs, and wireless communication, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills, are required. Experience with CRM tools and structured sales processes and a willingness to travel extensively throughout the western U.S. are also necessary. • Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline and 7+ years of technical sales experience. • Exhibit strong knowledge of substation automation, protective relays, RTUs, and wireless communications. • Utilize CRM tools and structured sales processes effectively.
