About the Role

• Operate and monitor treatment processes (headworks, aeration/anoxic basins, MBR, screw press dewatering, UV disinfection, pump stations, odor control, SCADA) to meet permits and targets. • Perform sampling and basic lab tests (pH, DO, TSS, settleability, chlorine residual, turbidity) and adjust operations and chemical dosing as needed. • Conduct routine equipment inspections, identify abnormal conditions, and take corrective action. • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance staff or contractors. • Execute preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and calibration checks while maintaining housekeeping and safety standards. • Respond to alarms, participate in after‑hours/on‑call rotation, and keep accurate shift logs, work orders, chemical usage, meter readings, and compliance documentation. • Follow safety programs, attend training and safety meetings, and support SOP updates, optimization initiatives, and audits/inspections.

What You Bring

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Certified Wastewater Treatment System Operator near Chandler, AZ with at least two years of experience to join its Water and Wastewater team. • Hold a High School diploma or GED and an ADEQ Grade 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification (or equivalent). • Bring at least two years of experience in operating and maintaining water or wastewater treatment facilities. • Demonstrate strong documentation habits, comfort with math/process calculations, and excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
