Quality Inspector/CWI - Weekend Shift
Inspect and ensure quality compliance for steel production on weekend shift.

About the Role
The primary function is to coordinate between Veritas Steel Production and DOT inspectors, ensuring DOT witnessing of production operations, quality‑control hold points, and compliance with welding codes and specifications. This includes visual and dimensional inspections, layout checks, rotational capacity tests on bolts, monitoring welder qualification tests, and recording welding parameters. The role also involves maintaining logs and reports, using a radio for real‑time communication, and encouraging safe work habits while supporting welders and leadmen to sustain a smooth quality workflow. • Perform visual inspections and layout checks on materials and shop assemblies. • Conduct rotational capacity tests on bolts before shop use. • Monitor and record welding parameters to ensure compliance with approved WPS. • Use Total Station for dimensional checks and assembly verification. • Coordinate inspections of QC hold points between production and DOT inspectors. • Work with welders, leadmen, and supervisors to maintain quality and plan workflow. • Communicate inspection results and corrective actions to crews and the Quality Manager. • Coordinate with the shipping department to confirm loads are inspected and ready for shipment. • Maintain detailed logs, diaries, and required reports of inspection activities. • Promote safe working habits and respond promptly via radio for needed checks. • Read and apply welding codes, specifications, and company standards. • Develop improvements in the quality control process to streamline shop flow.

What You Bring
The position requires 3rd‑shift availability, working Friday through Sunday from 5 am to 5 pm, with the flexibility to adjust within the shift as needed. Required qualifications include a valid CWI certification, desired NACE or BCI certification, strong people skills, organization, and the ability to interpret specifications and company standards.
