About the Role
Storm overflows are a major concern for customers and communities, and Southern Water’s Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force is investing £1.5 bn over the next five years to reduce spills, minimise reliance on overflows and protect the natural environment. As a Storm Overflow Technician you will maintain, monitor and improve overflow systems, working at the frontline of environmental improvement and delivering sustainable, innovative interventions across the region. All staff support a 24/7 incident‑response framework to resolve problems quickly, ensuring customers receive the service they deserve; interview discussions will cover any incident‑support rotas relevant to the position. • Conduct field investigations in assigned catchments to identify root causes of CSO activation. • Review CCTV footage and contractor data to pinpoint issues and devise practical solutions. • Collaborate with civil separation contractors to create efficient, cost‑effective separation methods. • Attend community drop‑in events to engage the public and share project updates. • Detect problems early and implement solutions that maintain infrastructure resilience during severe weather. • Support the Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force in regional environmental improvement initiatives. • Participate in incident support rotas as required. • Work in a hybrid model across sites, catchments, and from home. • Engage comfortably with customers and stakeholders at community events. • Collaborate effectively with contractors and internal teams.

What You Bring

Benefits
The Storm Overflow Technician position is a permanent role based in Kent, offering a 37‑hour week with overtime opportunities and a salary up to £35,000 plus comprehensive benefits.
