About the Role

As a Software Engineer – Full Stack you will design, build, and support advanced web‑based mapping and data‑visualization tools used in environmental science, natural resource management, and other mission‑driven domains. You will develop interactive React applications featuring MapLibre maps, create full‑stack features, implement server‑side services and APIs, and integrate them with PostgreSQL databases. You will follow best practices for testing, documentation, security, and collaborate closely with teammates and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality solutions. • Develop interactive React applications with MapLibre maps, including vector tiles, layers, styling, and performance tuning. • Build and maintain full‑stack features using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML/CSS, Python, and XML. • Implement server‑side services/APIs and integrate them with PostgreSQL databases. • Apply software engineering best practices for design, testing, documentation, and security. • Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to iterate quickly and deliver high‑quality solutions.

What You Bring

This position is contingent upon contract award, customer approval, and funding availability. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a government background check, and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The preferred location is Sioux Falls, SD, though remote work will be considered. We are seeking a senior‑level full‑stack developer who is passionate about building user‑centric web applications and map‑based user interfaces. The role requires strong hands‑on experience with React (SPA patterns, hooks, state management) and MapLibre, proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, Python, and experience designing database‑driven applications with PostgreSQL. A bachelor’s degree in a software or computing field and at least eight years of relevant experience are required. Preferred experience includes deep knowledge of the MapLibre ecosystem (style JSON, sprite/glyph pipelines, vector/raster tiles, performance profiling), familiarity with Mapbox‑compatible tools, and experience with MVC frameworks. Additional strengths are requirements gathering, design analysis, Git‑based workflows, GIS tools, spatial ETL, tile generation, and understanding of OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS) and spatial data formats and projections. • Require 8+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in software/computing, and strong expertise in React, MapLibre, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, Python, and PostgreSQL. • Prefer experience with the MapLibre ecosystem (style JSON, sprite/glyph pipelines, vector/raster tiles), MVC frameworks, GIS tools, OGC standards, and spatial data formats.
