About the Role
The firm is hiring a Senior ITS/Traffic Engineer for its New Jersey team to lead innovative transportation solutions. The role involves producing design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for complex projects while collaborating closely with project managers and agencies to ensure successful delivery. In this position the engineer will design, implement, and manage advanced traffic engineering and ITS projects that enhance mobility, safety, and efficiency across transportation networks, with occasional travel to the NYC office. • Lead planning, design, and deployment of ITS, traffic signal systems, and connected vehicle technologies. • Conduct traffic engineering studies including signal optimization, corridor analysis, and congestion management. • Design traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, and intersection improvements per NJTA, NJDOT, and MUTCD standards. • Oversee integration of ITS hardware/software, traffic management centers, and emerging technologies. • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates. • Coordinate with NJDOT, NJTA, MPOs, and local municipalities on statewide and regional projects. • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance. • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as MUTCD, NTCIP, and AASHTO.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of traffic modeling, signal design, and engineering experience. • Proficiency in traffic analysis tools (Synchro, VISSIM, HCS) and CAD/MicroStation. • NJ Professional Engineer (PE) license required; PTOE is a plus. • Experience designing traffic control plans, detour plans, and transportation management strategies following NJTA, NJDOT, and MUTCD guidelines. • Strong communication and leadership skills with willingness to travel occasionally to the NYC office.

Benefits
The hybrid role is based in Piscataway, NJ, offering a salary range of $125,000–$170,000. Relocation assistance and U.S. employment sponsorship are not available for this position.
