About the Role

Interns will support project managers and field leads on natural resources surveys such as wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, and botanical surveys. Office responsibilities include data clean‑up, reporting, and other tasks that aid the Natural Resources team. Fieldwork may involve extended hikes, independent or team‑based assignments, and adherence to the safety program with prompt hazard communication and mitigation. • Support project managers with wetland, wildlife, and botanical surveys. • Perform data cleanup, reporting, and office tasks for the Natural Resources team. • Conduct fieldwork, including extended hikes and transporting equipment up to 40 lb. • Follow safety program and promptly address hazards.

What You Bring

Candidates must be currently enrolled juniors or seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an environmental‑related field, recent graduates (within 12 months of May 1, 2026), or master’s students; Ph.D. candidates are not eligible. Required experience includes natural resources fieldwork from coursework, projects, internships, or volunteer work, proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new survey techniques and protocols. The role is heavily field‑based, potentially requiring up to 90% of time in the field, with long‑hour travel, walking, and work in inclement weather or rugged terrain while carrying equipment up to 40 lb. Interns must be able to adapt to shifting priorities and work effectively in all weather conditions. Helpful skills include familiarity with GPS devices, digital data collection, mapping software such as ArcGIS, and technical writing experience. • Be a junior or senior environmental major, recent graduate, or master’s student (Ph.D. not eligible). • Possess fieldwork experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office. • Demonstrate strong communication, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new survey techniques. • Travel and work in all weather conditions, spending up to 90% of time in the field. • Familiarity with GPS, digital data collection, ArcGIS, and technical writing is a plus. • Preference for candidates local to Wyoming or Montana.
