About the Role

The Manufacturing Technician – I MCC Assembly is responsible for assembling, fitting, and mounting sub‑assemblies, components, and fixed assemblies in motor control centers, enclosed control units, and related products. The role includes preparing units for testing, performing final inspections, wiring relay panels, panel boards, space heaters, and control panels, as well as bending and installing power cables and fabricating harnesses. • Follow oral or written instructions, prints, inspection reports, and wiring diagrams. • Use manufacturing information sheets to determine necessary parts, write requisitions, and obtain materials from stock areas. • Read shop orders and drawings to determine assembly procedures, component types, configurations, mounting locations, and required clearances. • Assemble and fit parts and components to create sub‑assemblies or complete assemblies. • Assemble and wire control devices, cutting wires to length. • Make adjustments to ensure correct alignment and clearances. • Install units, panels, meters, pull boxes, reactors, relays, fuses, assemblies, transformers, etc., by mounting or bolting them in place. • Assemble and install bus work such as lug adapters, cross‑over bus, and splices. • Fabricate pre‑bent cable units and harnesses using pre‑cable boards and hand‑crimp lugs as necessary. • Modify standard assemblies or doors as received, using hand or power tools. • Perform wiring changes as required. • Operate floor‑mounted overhead and jib cranes to move units, harnesses, and panels. • Assess work quality, report problems to the supervisor or Quality Control, and maintain piece counts and associated records. • Mark wires, devices, or terminals; apply component ID labels (e.g., Brady or Dymo) and maintain related records. • Wear all required safety equipment and observe hygiene requirements throughout the assembly process.

What You Bring

Candidates must reside within 50 miles of South Bend, IN (or be active‑duty military) and possess a high school diploma or GED plus at least three months of manufacturing experience. The position requires the ability to read wiring diagrams, work with hand tools in a lean environment, stand, walk, lift or carry up to 35 lb, and maintain good vision and safety practices.
