About the Role

Key duties include selecting equipment, planning layouts, and applying knowledge of geometry, metal properties, and weld shrinkage. The welder will layout, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components, secure parts with bolts, clamps, or tack‑welds, set up welding equipment, and execute welding using arc, gas‑shielded, submerged‑arc, or arc‑gas processes while identifying equipment needs and safety risks. • Weld, fabricate, and assist pipe fitters on industrial pipe installations. • Operate in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions using stick and TIG welding processes. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. • Identify equipment, safety risks, and appropriate welding procedures. • Use arc, gas‑shielded, submerged‑arc, or arc‑gas welding equipment. • Meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 lb, climbing ladders, and working in hot weather with PPE.

What You Bring

ZACHRY is currently seeking an experienced Industrial Combination Welder for a position at EXXON MOBIL Beaumont in Beaumont, Texas. This role does not include a per diem allowance. The Combination Welder will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and assisting pipe fitters in the installation of various types of industrial pipe into project piping systems. Candidates must be capable of welding in 2G, 4G, and 6G positions, perform both stick and TIG welding on pipe, and possess a current applicable welding certification with Zachry or be able to pass a weld test. Required qualifications mandate the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, at least four years of experience welding industrial‑size pipe (40", 80", and 160"), and thorough knowledge of metal characteristics and appropriate welding procedures. Candidates must also have reliable transportation, be able to work at heights, and meet all physical demands of the job. Preferred qualifications include current Zachry or Zachry ROF employment, prior experience with Zachry Industrial, Inc., a Zachry certification, experience as an industrial pipe fitter, and background on combined‑cycle power plant construction projects. The position demands extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting, with occasional lifts up to 50 lb, work at slight heights, and exposure to hot weather conditions. Employees must wear required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots. Required tools for the role include a metal tool box with lock, stinger, TIG rig, welding hood, chipping hammer, Klein pliers, crescent wrenches, tape, file, beater, torpedo level, combination square, welding gloves, leather overhead welding protection, rain coat, and rubber boots. • Hold current Zachry welding certification or pass a weld test. • Minimum 4 years experience welding 40", 80", and 160" pipe. • Possess reliable transportation and ability to work at heights. • Preferred: current or former Zachry employee, Zachry ROF, industrial pipe‑fitter background, combined‑cycle power plant experience.
