About the Role

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into viable designs. • Produce buildable, maintainable designs that meet customer specifications and regulatory standards. • Identify and mitigate design risks, ensuring safety is "as low as reasonably practicable" per CDM regulations. • Manage design work packages, estimates, and programs for bids, projects, and services. • Utilize industry best practices, tools, and processes, including CAD and ProjectWise. • Address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and related issues throughout the design lifecycle. • Provide status reports and escalate issues to the Senior Design Engineer as needed. • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance solutions.

What You Bring

As a Design Engineer you will create rail solutions that meet client and user needs, working closely with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements, design and implement scalable, reliable products. This hybrid role is based in Cheadle, Cheshire, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. The ideal candidate possesses strong design‑tool proficiency, can manage designs through defined processes, and has knowledge of rail SCADA, telecoms engineering, CDM regulations, CAD and ProjectWise. A solid understanding of the engineering lifecycle and project plans is essential. You should stay updated on emerging technologies, demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, and apply strong problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities within a collaborative team environment. • Apply knowledge of rail SCADA and telecoms engineering for control panel and installation design. • Demonstrate strong communication, stakeholder management, and teamwork abilities.
