About the Role
The Quality Engineer serves as the technical source of information for the project, maintaining thorough knowledge of construction documents and responding to inquiries about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders. This role works closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers, and assists the Project Quality Manager in executing the Project Quality Management program. • Demonstrate and support execution of the Quality Management Plan (QMP). • Schedule and attend preparatory and pre‑installation meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, supervision and owners. • Perform initial, follow‑up and final inspections of work‑in‑place and generate daily compliance reports. • Coordinate testing agencies, maintain records, and produce control charts per contract requirements. • Collaborate with operations to develop task‑specific quality management plans. • Report, track, and correct deficient items. • Assist in generating, collecting, distributing, storing, retrieving and disposing meeting agendas, RFIs and daily reports. • Communicate inspection results and recommend corrective actions. • Support material procurement, coordinate submittals, and review them for contract compliance. • Verify received materials meet contract specifications and ensure proper storage. • Maintain as‑built documents and compile close‑out items such as manuals, warranties, and other specification‑required items. • Apply advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards and functional unit interdependence. • Occasionally climb stairs or ladders. • Frequently interact with people throughout the shift. • Occasionally lift, push or pull objects. • Sit, stand, or walk short distances for the duration of a shift. • Use telephone, computer, email and other electronic devices for communication. • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend. • Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects. • Comply with all safety standards and procedures. • Work various shifts, including swing, night and weekend. • Participate in Employee Stock Ownership Plan and 401(k). • Participate in workplace wellness programs. • Contribute to the Sundt Foundation charitable employee‑owner program.

What You Bring
• Hold a four‑year Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, or at least five years of construction quality‑control experience. • Obtain ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I and Transportation Concrete Special Inspector certifications within three months of hire. • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills and manage multidisciplinary teams, supervising quality technicians as needed. • Prefer experience with military or commercial airfield pavement construction. • Prefer experience with USACE/NAFVAC projects. • Proficiently use the Microsoft Office Suite. • Frequently reach above shoulder height and below the waist. • Wear required personal protective equipment such as steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat and vest.
