Job Highlights
About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic at WM you will work in our Walker, LA repair shop, Monday through Friday from 2 pm to 10 pm, with occasional Saturdays, maintaining trucks and equipment that serve over 20 million customers. You will use modern tools and procedures to ensure reliable operation of diesel and CNG fleets. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and parts • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs) • Respond to emergency service calls and breakdowns • Conduct safety checks on vehicles • Complete paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times • Review and address repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports • Maintain a clean, safe work area complying with corporate and OSHA standards

What You Bring
• Preferred: welding experience and ASE certifications • Minimum 2 years relevant mechanical experience • Valid driver’s license with clean record • Age 18+ and legally eligible to work in the United States • Ability to meet physical demands with or without accommodation • Pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical examination • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively • Determined problem solver • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing; constant standing, walking, grasping • Exposure to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes • Work both inside garage/shop and outdoors in inclement conditions
