About the Role
The Material Handler is responsible for performing an array of duties such as loading, unloading and transporting materials to and from jobsites. This is considered to be a safety‑sensitive position. The role assists electricians during the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and low‑voltage systems, using hand and power tools. The handler may obtain certification to operate material‑handling equipment and may be authorized as a Bergelectric driver to receive and deliver materials. Interaction with clients, vendors, and Bergelectric employees must be professional, and duties include cleanup, gathering and transporting materials and tools to the construction site. Under the direction of the project foreman, the handler receives, organizes, and safely delivers material to the workforce, and cleans and disposes of trash as directed. Physical demands include lifting and pulling up to 50 lb, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and working in various weather conditions and noisy, cramped environments. • Assist electricians with installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and low‑voltage systems. • Operate material‑handling equipment after obtaining required certification. • Serve as an approved Bergelectric driver to receive and deliver materials. • Interact professionally with clients, vendors, and employees. • Use hand and power tools to install electrical and low‑voltage material safely. • Perform cleanup, and gather and transport materials and tools to the job site. • Receive, organize, and safely deliver materials under foreman's direction. • Clean and dispose of trash as instructed. • Lift and pull up to 50 lb, climb ladders or scaffolding, and work in various weather conditions. • Expect a 40‑hour workweek with possible overtime, nights, weekends, on‑call, or emergency assignments.
