About the Role

The Mechanical Project Engineer will join Galliford Try’s Environment Business to deliver essential water infrastructure projects across the South East, leading smaller clean and wastewater projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, the engineer will collaborate with a skilled team to ensure design, procurement, financial control and site activities meet the highest standards. • Lead mechanical engineering from concept through to completion using in‑house resources and site teams. • Deliver non‑infra M&E projects within the water sector. • Oversee design management and liaise with clients and internal teams. • Conduct early site investigations and coordinate with stakeholders. • Prepare and review health & safety documentation (RAMS, project plans). • Procure materials and manage supplier/subcontractor relationships. • Attend and oversee factory/site testing, commissioning, and client training. • Participate in design reviews and hazard studies to develop optimal solutions. • Monitor budgets and assist with cost reviews and variation claims. • Ensure quality and compliance through inspection and test plans. • Drive innovation while maintaining adherence to standards. • Prepare and manage project programmes and documentation (as‑built drawings, O&M manuals). • Champion health & safety and maintain high performance standards.

What You Bring

• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Flexible, resilient, and able to influence at all levels. • Mechanical ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent. • Full UK driving licence. • CSCS/ECS Card (desirable). • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card (desirable). • SMSTS certification (desirable). • First Aid at Work certification (desirable). • City & Guilds Authorised Person Module (desirable).
