About the Role

Job Title: Capability Lead – Installations. This full‑time, hybrid role (three office days per week) is based in Indianapolis, IN. The Capability Lead will manage the design skillset area in Installations, covering Externals and Aerostructure, and will be responsible for a team of 12‑20 Design Engineers working on U.S. Defense programs. In this role you will provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with processes throughout the lifecycle of projects. You will lead load and capacity planning, coordinate with internal functions and Managed Service Providers, and allocate staff to work packages while overseeing the delivery and approval of technical activities. You will also drive capability development for the Indianapolis Installations engineers, maintain skill sets across the team, and champion continuous improvement and operational best practices, with occasional travel to Europe. • Provide technical leadership and ensure process compliance throughout project lifecycles. • Conduct load and capacity planning, coordinating with internal functions and Managed Service Providers. • Allocate staff to work packages and oversee delivery and approval of technical activities. • Drive capability development for Indianapolis Installations engineers and maintain global skill sets. • Maintain skill sets across all Indianapolis Installations engineers (ET&S and retained). • Lead efficiency improvements through process review, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least five years of relevant experience (or a Master’s with three years, or a JD/PhD with experience) and must be a U.S. citizen. You should demonstrate sound engineering judgment related to Defense customers, have functional knowledge of Installations components, and possess a minimum of five years’ direct experience in gas‑turbine engine design or stress analysis. Proficiency with Lifecycle Viewer, NX and Teamcenter, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral English are also required. • Travel up to two trips to Europe per year (approximately 5% travel time). • Bachelor’s in Engineering with 5+ years experience (or Master’s with 3+ years, or JD/PhD with experience); U.S. citizenship required. • Demonstrated engineering judgment related to Defense customers and programs. • Functional knowledge of Installations (Externals, Aerostructure, Composites, tubing, wiring harnesses, brackets, etc.). • Minimum 5+ years direct experience in gas‑turbine engine design or stress analysis; familiar with Rolls‑Royce standards. • Proficiency in Lifecycle Viewer, NX, and Teamcenter. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and initiative‑taking skills; excellent English proficiency.
