About the Role

The role involves working on void properties, responding to refurbishment requests that cover carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and more. No two days are the same, and the successful candidate will need to adapt quickly, solve problems and provide excellent customer service while respecting residents’ privacy. • Perform day‑to‑day responsive repairs in void social housing (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating). • Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, internal door frames and fittings. • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors. • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks and hinges. • Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks. • Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings. • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing. • Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repairs. • Work safely, efficiently and to high standards, respecting resident privacy. • Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required. • Report additional works, safeguarding concerns or property issues beyond scope. • Deliver excellent customer service in residents’ homes. • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes via handheld devices. • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good condition. • Manage daily workload to meet service level targets.

What You Bring

Mears Group promotes a diverse and inclusive workplace, supports the Armed Forces Covenant and encourages voluntary sharing of social‑mobility information. • Proven experience in domestic repairs across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating). • Full UK driving licence (age >21, held >3 months, less than 9 points). • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively. • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills. • Excellent customer service experience in occupied homes. • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices. • Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems. • Willingness to join out‑of‑hours emergency rota.

Benefits

Annual salary up to £38,398.97 per annum, plus a company van and fuel card, for a full‑time permanent 42.5‑hour week (Monday‑Friday 8‑5) based in Leeds.
