About the Role
Senior Construction Project Managers at Johnson Controls’ Building Solutions North America business lead large, sophisticated controls construction projects valued at $1 million or more in the Atlanta area. They are accountable for the profitable execution of assigned projects, collaborating with owners, sales managers, branch installation managers, and project teams throughout the sales support and development phases. The role involves acting as the primary on‑site leader, developing and managing project schedules, overseeing scope, billing, and cash flow, and driving change‑order opportunities. Managers ensure compliance with contractual terms, legal and safety standards, maintain document controls, and coordinate with subcontractors, the CMS, HVAC Installation Manager, and other internal resources to meet project objectives. • Lead $1M+ controls construction projects in the Atlanta region, ensuring profitable execution. • Serve as the primary on‑site leader, developing schedules and managing project timelines. • Oversee contract scope, billing, cash flow, and actively pursue change‑order revenue. • Ensure compliance with state, local, federal regulations and Johnson Controls safety standards. • Manage document controls, subcontracts, and coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams. • Evaluate and mitigate project risks, creating recovery plans when necessary. • Communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management using MS Project. • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with owners, consultants, prime contractors, and vendors.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, construction management or architecture (or an equivalent associate degree with experience) and have at least eight years of direct construction project management experience, preferably with mechanical retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS, fire or security systems. A PMI/PMP certification is expected within two years, and applicants need strong communication skills, proficiency in project‑management and financial software, and the ability to handle complex, multi‑subcontractor projects. • Require a bachelor’s (or equivalent associate) degree in construction, engineering, or architecture. • Minimum eight years of direct construction project management experience, preferably in mechanical retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS, fire, or security systems. • Obtain PMI/PMP certification within two years of employment.
