About the Role

• Meet physical/health requirements for duties. • Enforce dress code in Lobby. • Provide safety and security for the Facility by controlling access through the Main Gate, denying passage to any unauthorized person(s) or vehicle(s). • Ensure that you receive an updated authorize access contractor/construction worker list on a weekly basis • Maintain a constant awareness for suspicious activities and/or breeches of security. • Rovers will inspect the property fence line for deficiencies. • Conduct key inventory of the weapons locker and document the results. • Conduct frequent patrols of outer perimeter and entire facility • Ensure that the Notification to Visitor form is filled out completely to include the signature of witnessing officer. • May often be required to grip, squeeze and repetitively use fine hand movements. • Ensure all visitors to PIDC are properly identified and screened for contraband. • Often climbs stairs and works with arms above the shoulder. • Ensure all required information is properly documented by visitors in all logbooks. • Ensure all visitors log in to the appropriate logbooks. • Conduct inspections of the Facility’s outer perimeter, alternating your routine so as not to establish a pattern. Patrols must never become regular and routine. • Respond to Control Center’s notification of fence alarms to verify the security of the zone, utilizing the zone reference card located in the roving vehicle. • Complete a Fire\Security Inspection of your area and document the results. • Check on Main Gate and Lobby Officers at least every hour. • Be alert for any unusual or emergency situations, notify the supervisor immediately, and take appropriate actions as needed. Make a notation in the logbook. • Make sporadic stops during outdoor recreation hours to observe detainee activity. • Responsible for any contractor / construction work crew traffic that arrives at the main gate outside of the normal operating hours. • Remain alert at all times to deter the introduction of contraband. • Maintain control of all visitors within the waiting area. • May often be required to move heavy equipment. • Respond to requests for assistance from main gate officers and/or Lobby Officers. • Answer any questions relating to facility, visitation and court policies.

What You Bring

• Required to lift 50 lbs. or less frequently and often lifts 50-65 lbs. • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. • Able to qualify with 9mm caliber pistol. • Good judgment, courage, alertness, even temperament. • Exposure to south Texas weather in a moist or dry environment with exposure to sun extreme heat, cold and rain; some noise and chemicals. • Competency with semi-automatic pistol, demonstrate safe weapon handling skills. • Organizational skills commensurate with position. • The outside gate will be secured from the hours of 2:00am to 6:00am. • 21 years of age. • Computer skills including proficiency in various Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. • State of Texas Level III Guard Permit. • Exposure to blood borne pathogens. • Clear criminal history; no felonies or Class A misdemeanors. • Capable of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules and regulations. • Be courteous and professional when dealing with staff and visitors. • Works where slips & trips may occur frequently and often exposed to sharp objects. • Works in a correctional setting requiring attentiveness and officer safety. • All personnel entering the secured area will pass through the metal detector or be scanned by the handheld device. All Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) are exempt. • Use proper phone etiquette. • U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident who has lived in US for 3 of past 5 years. • Ability to maintain poise and self-control during situations which involve mental stress. • May be required to bend and stoop frequently and occasionally kneel or crouch. • All bags and packages entering the secured area will be thoroughly searched for contraband. All Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) are exempt. • High School Graduate or GED • Possess ability to great and deal tactfully with the general public. • PIDC ICE staff and support personnel must register their presence on-site upon entrance to the facility for safety and accountability.
