About the Role

The Operating Engineer at Cushman & Wakefield is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across assigned properties. The role ensures a clean, safe working environment, conducts routine assessments, and performs both preventive and corrective maintenance. Key duties include performing all plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks, maintaining heating and cooling equipment such as chillers, pumps, and air distribution systems, and monitoring energy management systems. The engineer also repairs doors, ceilings, hand railings, and general building components, while conducting regular inspections of engine rooms, fire pumps, and emergency exit signage. • Perform plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work across assigned buildings. • Maintain and adjust heating, cooling, pump, and air distribution equipment, including chillers and VAV systems. • Monitor and manage energy systems and conduct routine preventive maintenance (filter changes, coil cleaning, bearing lubrication, etc.). • Repair building components such as doors, ceilings, hand railings, flooring, and plumbing fixtures. • Inspect and service engine rooms, fan rooms, cooling towers, backup generators, fire pumps, and emergency exit signage. • Respond immediately to emergencies (fire, evacuation, equipment failure) and address customer concerns. • Document activities and report to supervisors in accordance with C&W standards. • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and company safety directives. • Uphold C&W uniform dress code and maintain a neat appearance on and off duty. • Apply technical proficiency, initiative, flexibility, multitasking, and sense of urgency in daily tasks.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for apprenticeship or trade school graduates, and at least five years of experience operating building systems in a commercial setting. Required qualifications include relevant trade licenses (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Refrigeration Certificate), a valid driver’s license, and basic computer skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word. • Hold appropriate trade licenses (Journeyman/Electrician, Refrigeration Certificate, Boiler/Steam licenses) and maintain a valid driver’s license. • Utilize basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word for reporting and communication.
