About the Role
The Senior Estimator operates with minimal oversight on preconstruction teams, frequently serving as the principal point of contact with the design team and the owner. Senior estimators can lead all types of project delivery methods and demonstrate competence in both basic and advanced estimating functions across disciplines such as earthwork, paving, underground utilities, and structures for transit, civil infrastructure, and highway projects. Successful candidates will prepare detailed take‑offs, solicit quotes, develop cost estimates, and close out bids. The position is classified as Safety‑Sensitive, reflecting tasks that could affect the safety and health of employees or others, such as operating vehicles, equipment, or handling hazardous materials. Compliance with all safety standards and procedures is required. • Estimate all scopes within discipline expertise. • Perform detailed quantity take‑offs to develop comprehensive cost estimates. • Estimate unit costs by analyzing crew composition, production rates, and equipment selection. • Participate in detailed reviews and clearly explain estimates. • Use cost‑history database to verify production rates. • Prepare supplier bid packages to secure competitive material quotes for self‑performed work. • Coordinate junior estimators and interns on take‑offs and vendor solicitation. • Assist in obtaining firm quotes from material suppliers, equipment providers, and subcontractors. • Apply expertise in mass earthwork, grading, geotechnical review, and related production methods. • Identify suitable quarries and pits, and manage aggregate, PCCP, and asphalt production. • Manage trench protection, shoring, and equipment selection for underground utilities. • Quantify mechanical assemblies such as valves and fire hydrants and price backfill methods. • Oversee falsework, formwork, post‑tensioning, precast, and foundation systems for bridges and structures. • Select cranes and coordinate erection of precast elements and cast‑in‑place techniques. • Occasionally climb stairs or ladders. • Frequently interact with people during shift. • Occasionally lift, push, or pull objects. • Sit, stand, or walk short distances for entire shift. • Use telephone, computer, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis. • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend. • Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, or feel objects. • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.

What You Bring
• Advanced HCSS knowledge for estimate entry and quote tools. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. • LEED accreditation and DBIA certification preferred or willingness to obtain. • Four‑year engineering degree or equivalent technical training/experience. • Ten+ years estimating experience. • Proven ability to act as primary point of contact with minimal oversight. • Experience in one or more key market sectors relevant to the business unit. • Frequently reach above shoulder height and below waist. • Required to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, vest).
