About the Role
The Light Equipment Operator is responsible for operating hand‑held mechanical devices and heavy machinery on construction or plant‑operation sites. Equipment may include bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklifts, graders, drills, generators, saws, and pumps. The operator must learn and adhere to all relevant safety hazards and use tools and equipment safely and effectively. Daily duties involve managing the movement of materials, performing routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, and reporting any malfunction to supervisors. The operator also assists other craft workers as needed and ensures that loads are placed correctly according to signals and charts. • Read and interpret load charts • Interpret hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities for tools and equipment • Perform daily inspections on equipment including checking fluids, refueling, adding fluids, and assess component wear • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment and supplies • Assist other craft workers as needed

What You Bring
Physical requirements include the ability to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 lb (occasionally 100 lb), operate vehicles and forklifts, and perform a range of motions such as climbing, bending, crawling, and standing on uneven or hazardous surfaces. The role may involve exposure to adverse weather, confined spaces, and the use of hand and power tools. Mentally, the operator must communicate clearly with management, comprehend written and verbal instructions, and maintain focus amid distractions. Decision‑making, attention to detail, and the ability to work at varied tempos are essential.
