About the Role
The OHE Lineman A assists Journeyman Linemen and the Foreman while training and learning the trade, performing construction and maintenance of poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for electricity distribution. The role sets a good example for apprentices by consistently following and teaching safe practices, supports the line team, and collaborates with other department personnel. Pay rate is $43.00‑$46.00 per hour; no per diem or housing is provided, so candidates must be local. • Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution electrical lines. • Provide technical skills to ensure reliable electrical services with quality and timeliness. • Connect, disconnect, install, remove, move, and transfer transformers, regulator, switches, capacitor banks, and other devices on customer facilities. • Route or reroute power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures. • Inspect and remove damaged power lines. • Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and other operations for setting or replacing poles. • Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed. • Assist in on‑job training of apprentices and crew members. • Submit Apprentice Program documentation promptly. • Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment. • Drive bucket truck to job sites and maintain truck stock. • Investigate consumer complaints and repair energized distribution lines as needed.

What You Bring
The position works in a field environment that routinely requires bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating in inclement weather such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. Employees must maintain clear vision, precise hand‑eye coordination, and the ability to judge distance and color distinctions to safely perform essential functions. • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum three years of lineman experience. • Valid Class A CDL required. • Preferred: five or more years of experience. • Preferred: OSHA 10 certification.
