About the Role
The Transportation Planning Intern will support planning and public‑engagement efforts for transit, rail, roadway, and multimodal projects, working alongside senior planners, engineers, and project managers on assignments for local, state, and federal clients. The role is ideal for students or recent graduates in transportation planning, urban planning, public policy, or related fields seeking hands‑on consulting experience. • Support transportation planning studies (transit, multimodal, corridor, long‑range). • Collect, analyze, and visualize data such as demographics, travel patterns, and GIS mapping. • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and graphics. • Develop public‑engagement materials, surveys, outreach content, and attend community meetings across Georgia. • Conduct grant‑related research and documentation for programs like FTA, FHWA, and FRA. • Participate in project team and client coordination meetings. • Perform general planning and research tasks under senior staff supervision. • Develop experience with public‑sector clients and multidisciplinary teams; access to AECOM’s learning and networking opportunities.

What You Bring
The position follows a hybrid work schedule based in Atlanta, GA, with required in‑office days and no relocation assistance or sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization. Candidates must be able to work on‑site as needed. • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban/Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, Geography, or a related field with at least one year of study (or recent graduate transitioning to a Master’s). • Coursework or experience in transportation or transit planning; familiarity with GIS (ArcGIS or similar). • Experience with data analysis or visualization tools; strong written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
