About the Role
The core responsibility is to operate one or two pieces of equipment—such as a baler, front‑end loader, bobcat, compactor, or forklift—to transport, bind, and handle paper or other loose materials. Operators ensure material moves efficiently through the facility and is prepared for baling or shipment. Key duties include sorting and grading material, operating the compactor, maintaining inventory and record sheets, and coordinating material flow with the MRF Manager. Operators start and monitor the baler, respond to machine prompts and alarms, and document downtime. Routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating, fueling, cleaning equipment, and keeping wire supplies on hand are performed daily. Workers also load and unload trailers, railcars, containers, and dump bins, stack material in designated rows, and keep work areas clean and safe. All activities must comply with WM safety policies and any additional duties assigned. • Operate baler, front‑end loader, bobcat, compactor, or forklift to transport and bind paper or loose materials. • Sort, grade, and inspect material quality before baling or shipping. • Maintain inventory, load/unload sheets, and complete tally and vehicle condition reports. • Coordinate material flow with the MRF Manager and ensure proper conveyor feeding. • Perform routine equipment maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning. • Ensure safety compliance in all work areas and respond promptly to baler alarms. • Load and unload trailers, railcars, containers, and dump bins; stack material in designated rows.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are at least six months of related work experience and a valid forklift certification. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience.
