About the Role

A strategic growth initiative has created a Technical Director‑level Electrical Engineer role within the Melbourne‑based Building Services team. This senior position provides technical leadership on a variety of multidisciplinary projects across Australia and New Zealand, influencing design quality and client outcomes. The role requires overseeing complex building projects, ensuring electrical design compliance with Australian codes and standards, and fostering innovation through rigorous review of calculations, specifications, and models. It also involves cultivating client relationships, supporting business development, and mentoring a high‑performing engineering team. • Lead delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary building projects across health, education, defence, transport, commercial, aviation, sports, and data centre sectors in Australia. • Provide technical leadership and governance for electrical building services design, ensuring compliance with Australian codes, standards, and best‑practice engineering principles. • Review design calculations, specifications, models and documentation to drive innovation and ensure high‑quality, coordinated project outcomes. • Build and maintain trusted client relationships, support business development and secure a pipeline of high‑profile building services projects. • Mentor and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering technical excellence, leadership capability and a high‑performance culture. • Contribute to AECOM’s Building Services capability across ANZ by shaping local and national strategy, team growth and capability development.

What You Bring

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, around twenty years of consultancy experience, and chartered status (CPEng) or equivalent registration. They must demonstrate deep technical expertise, strong communication and stakeholder management, proven project and commercial leadership, and the ability to build and lead high‑performing teams. Australian citizenship and eligibility for Defence Security Clearance are highly preferred. • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with ~20 + years consultancy experience delivering complex building services projects. • Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent registration, eligible for state professional registration. • Deep expertise in electrical design, Australian codes, standards and regulations. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with clients, contractors, consultants and senior project teams. • Proven track record in project and commercial management of high‑profile, technically challenging projects. • Demonstrated leadership, emotional intelligence and ability to build high‑performing technical teams. • Australian citizenship and eligibility for Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or Negative Vetting 1) highly preferred. • Ability to swap public holidays for more suitable dates.
