About the Role
The Operations Manager – Hauling leads collections activities for commercial, industrial, and residential customers, overseeing container delivery and pickup across a dispersed geographic area. This role manages a team of Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers, and Helpers responsible for commercial, roll‑off, and residential routes within the business unit. The manager collaborates with the General Manager and other unit leaders to execute local market strategies that align with broader operating and marketing plans. Key duties include hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of staff, as well as setting supervisory goals and resolving safety issues. The manager implements tactical initiatives to enhance customer experience, drive growth, and optimize profitability while ensuring maximum productivity and adherence to route management standards. Additional responsibilities cover labor hour and disposal expense control, regulatory compliance, and oversight of safety and accident‑prevention programs. The role also approves expenses, manages the operations budget, and maintains vendor pricing. Building strong relationships with government, community, and environmental groups is a critical component.
