About the Role

This is an entry‑level engineering position in the Substation Engineering department, providing technical expertise to solve problems in a specific area of expertise while working under close supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop their field‑specific skills and gradually work with greater independence. • Provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems. • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively. • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches. • Continuously improve job‑related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance. • Select and specify substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and protection relays. • Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure reliable operation.

What You Bring

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an ABET‑accredited electrical engineering program (or equivalent evaluation) and 0‑1 year of experience in electrical substations. A passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam is preferred, and on‑the‑job training will be provided as needed. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing technical documents, presenting information, basic math and algebra, and interpreting instructions. Additional required skills involve an understanding of basic electrical engineering theories, substation construction standards, and power‑quality concepts, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, travel to customer sites, and manage multiple tasks. Preferred experience includes utility‑industry exposure, knowledge of substation physical design or protection/control design, and basic project‑management principles. Physical demands are moderate, with regular sitting, occasional standing and walking, frequent use of hands for tools, and occasional outdoor work or exposure to electrical shock risk. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The work environment is characterized by moderate noise levels.
