About the Role

Fitters at the Palatka location perform fitting and grinding operations, handle repairs, and complete miscellaneous tasks. They must meet high production demands, produce quality work, and follow company safety policies. • Build iconic bridge projects using proper safety practices • Drill, install high‑strength bolts, and grind steel components • Perform fillet and groove welds with SMAW, SAW, and FCAW processes • Keep work area clean and organized • Participate in continual improvement activities • Read and interpret blueprints • Manage time pressures, long hours, and rapidly changing priorities • Push or move objects up to 50 lb of force • Pull up to 122 lb of force • Stand, walk, stoop, and kneel for most of the shift • Maintain full range of motion for reaching, overhead work, and bending • Work indoors in a large warehouse or outdoors in all weather conditions

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED required • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English • Able to read metric tapes • Flexible to work with others and operate equipment using standardized methods • Capable of collaborating with a diverse workforce • Adapt to changing priorities, communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines, and handle interruptions • Lift 40 lb and carry 30 lb • Agile fingers and thumbs on both hands • Regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel, and other hazards • Required PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, steel‑toed boots, and respirators for specific tasks

Benefits

The position is a 2nd shift with a 53‑hour work week. Hours are Monday‑Thursday 4:30 pm–4:30 am and Friday 2:30 pm–9:30 pm. Pay starts at $18.72 per hour with double time after 50 hours, and training is provided on the 1st shift (5 am–4:30 pm) Monday‑Friday. • Work alongside and learn from skilled steel fitters
