About the Role
The Buyer I is responsible for planning and procuring material requirements to achieve the lowest possible overall cost, drive year‑over‑year productivity savings, and meet inventory reduction commitments for assigned parts and vendors. The role involves analyzing and forecasting market data to secure optimal price acquisition. This position is located in Tulsa, OK, with AAON, a leading HVAC manufacturer committed to innovation and sustainability. The position manages the end‑to‑end procurement process, ensuring timely acquisition of goods while maintaining cost efficiency, quality, and compliance with company policies. Collaboration with Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams is essential to meet project deadlines and support material flow across the organization. • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for goods and services. • Prepare, execute, and review requisitions and purchase orders according to company standards. • Provide commodity forecasts and determine optimal order lot sizes and packaging quantities. • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance, and resolve disputes. • Stay informed on industry trends, price fluctuations, and new products to guide purchasing decisions. • Monitor and analyze costs, implementing strategies to reduce expenses while preserving quality. • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. • Coordinate with Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Engineering departments to meet deadlines. • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability. • Expedite purchase orders and communicate expected delivery dates to relevant teams.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least a high school diploma or GED and three years of experience in business, supply chain management, or a related field. Required competencies include effective written and verbal communication, strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, multitasking, teamwork, the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, negotiation expertise, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. The work environment is primarily an indoor professional office with frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities, including seasonal temperature variations, dust, and occasional chemical fumes. The role may require sitting or standing for up to 95 % of the workday and the ability to lift up to 50 lb.
