About the Role

Roles are site‑based, embedding you in multidisciplinary teams where you will support commercial activities such as monthly pay applications, change order reviews and financial reporting. The locations vary from mountain regions with outdoor lifestyles to vibrant college towns, providing a unique blend of pace, scale and lifestyle choice. The role provides cost management services from inception through completion for both ongoing and new commissions across various sectors, supporting specific areas or disciplines with strong technical and functional capabilities. • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies and contract selection, creating procurement reports • Apply value management techniques at the project outset • Manage, estimate and cost‑plan activities, own and present the final cost plan • Assist in procuring and selecting the main contractor • Prepare contract documents, warranties, bonds and licences and support their formal execution • Advise on administration of building contract terms • Measure and value work performed, adjust variations according to contract terms and agree with the contractor • Provide cost control and reporting throughout the contract • Prepare client financial reports as required • Identify all costs linked to design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges • Participate in evaluating contractor and subcontractor claims for delay and additional costs • Advise on issuing certificates of practical completion and negotiate final accounts • Advise on certificates for making good defects and final completion per requirements • Deliver system and process improvements, driving transformational change • Guide and direct the Assistant Cost Consultant and junior team members • Mentor junior staff informally • Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders • Manage stakeholder engagement • Collaborate toward net‑zero carbon transition by identifying and managing associated emissions and reductions during delivery

What You Bring

• Understanding of sustainability, social value and carbon‑reduction issues • Strong grasp of industry best practice • Degree in quantity surveying or cost management (or equivalent) • Professional membership or progress toward MRICS/RICS (or equivalent) • Proficient knowledge of the specific sector/market relevant to the role • Relevant technical qualification or certification for the project portfolio(s) • Experience with most forms of contract • Sound knowledge and ability to advise on contract administration and management • Proven cost consultancy experience • Experience in cost planning, budgeting and estimating • Solid understanding of costs, timescales and risk implications • Knowledge of different contract types and measurement methods • Strong negotiation skills • Strong analytical skills • Digital competence • Effective communication with all stakeholders • Ability to implement improved working practices • Ability to develop effective internal and external stakeholder relationships • Good interpersonal skills for reporting, negotiation and relationship building • Problem‑solving and analytical skills for cost, contract administration and procurement issues
