About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY: A Relief Driver‑CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, the driver must ensure the vehicle complies with the Company’s safety standards, adhere to all state and federal regulations, and complete daily vehicle condition reports to guarantee timely repair of any defects. • Perform complete pre‑ and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order; report any safety issues on standard reports. • Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site, reading the route sheet and following the map to service each customer as assigned. • Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility. • Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers and others daily to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner. • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures. • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable material. • Clean areas around accidental waste spills while adhering to all safety standards and policies. • Continuously monitor vehicle condition to keep it operationally ready, cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip. • Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports as needed. • Maintain adherence to productivity standards to ensure customers are serviced efficiently and timely. • Follow all required safety policies and procedures. • Actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program. • Provide good customer service skills, acting professionally, courteously, and cooperatively toward customers and co‑workers with honesty and trustworthiness. • Adhere to Company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid inappropriate risks.
