About the Role
The role will coordinate, review and approve electrical design plans, ensuring compliance with codes, ordinances and regulations. It will apply advanced engineering techniques throughout concept development, design, procurement, construction and operation, while planning future‑ready solutions that prioritize safety and functionality. The incumbent will manage design and construction of electrical systems, lead cross‑functional teams, prepare visualizations and technical reports, and nurture client relationships. • Coordinate, review, and approve electrical design plans to ensure code compliance. • Apply advanced electrical engineering techniques across concept, design, procurement, construction, and operation phases. • Develop future‑ready design strategies that prioritize safety, functionality, and end‑user requirements. • Manage electrical system design and construction from project inception through close‑out. • Lead cross‑functional engineering teams on multiple projects, overseeing budgets, hours, and technical deliverables. • Create data visualizations, sketches, calculations, and reports to communicate complex findings. • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations addressing design and construction issues. • Cultivate client relationships and provide technical input for pursuit efforts. • Exercise ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

What You Bring
WSP is searching for an Assistant Vice President, Electrical Engineer for its Jacksonville, FL office to expand the Property & Buildings practice. The role is designed for a licensed electrical engineer with extensive healthcare design experience in Florida. The ideal candidate will combine technical leadership with business development to grow the regional business. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, possess a Professional Engineer license, and have ten or more years of relevant experience, especially in healthcare electrical design. They should demonstrate deep knowledge of codes, regulations, construction documentation, and possess strong leadership, coordination and safety‑compliance skills. Preferred credentials include a Master’s degree in engineering, LEED AP certification, prior laboratory or healthcare design experience, at least five years of project management, OSHA HAZWOPER training, and basic First Aid/CPR certification. • Hold a B.S. in Electrical or Architectural Engineering, a Professional Engineer license, and 10+ years of relevant experience, especially in healthcare design. • Demonstrate deep knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and construction documentation. • Exhibit strong leadership, coordination, and safety‑compliance abilities. • Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering, LEED AP certification, lab or healthcare design experience. • Preferred: Minimum 5 years of project management experience and OSHA HAZWOPER training. • Preferred: Basic First Aid and Adult CPR certification.
