About the Role
At Johnson Controls, the Fire Alarm Designer creates fire alarm system designs for projects, acting as the design lead and directing team members. This role ensures that fire alarm solutions meet client needs and industry standards. The position involves planning workload, reviewing complex designs for code compliance, preparing detailed schematics and calculations, and overseeing CAD technicians to deliver comprehensive technical submissions. Collaboration is key; the designer works with project managers, attends design and customer meetings, supports system commissioning, and provides technical answers to customers, contractors, and authorities. • Design fire alarm systems and serve as the project’s design lead. • Organize personal workload and direct the work of design team members and CAD technicians. • Provide stamped drawing approvals when licensed or certified. • Review high‑complexity designs to deliver value‑engineered, code‑compliant solutions. • Prepare detailed technical submissions, including schematics, calculations, and bill of materials. • Perform calculations to verify compliance with fire codes and standards. • Coordinate with project managers during pre‑ and post‑design meetings and site coordination. • Support system commissioning by verifying performance against design specifications. • Mentor and guide CAD support technicians and ensure accurate project documentation. • Monitor project hours to ensure proper coding and adherence to estimated budgets.

What You Bring
