About the Role
• Inspect and oversee construction of transportation projects (bridges, roads, signals, signing, ITS, underground facilities). • Monitor contractor work, progress, material quality, and usage via FieldBook and ProjectWise. • Verify implementation and maintenance of traffic control measures during construction. • Communicate with AECOM supervisors, MDOT, local agencies, contractors, and the public. • Assist in training entry‑level employees. • Perform NPDES inspections. • Ensure compliance with quality, performance, specifications, and code requirements through inspections. • Conduct daily field inspections, maintain records, and track QA progress. • Participate in punch lists, testing, commissioning, and provide documentation for turnovers.

The successful candidate will work on‑site, coordinating with AECOM supervisors, MDOT, local agencies, contractors and the public. • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 2+ years relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience). • 4+ years MDOT or other state DOT/local agency construction inspection experience (or equivalent). • Basic understanding of construction principles and practices. • Ability to document events, issues, and variances. • Strong written and verbal communication with construction personnel and engineers. • Ability to perform basic calculations and read construction plans/specifications. • Valid driver’s license with good driving record. • MDOT certifications required or to be earned within 6 months of employment.
