About the Role
The Sorter role involves ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials on a conveyor line. Responsibilities include inspecting items, sorting by type, size, condition or grade, removing contaminants, stacking and dumping boxes or totes, feeding wastepaper onto the conveyor, and maintaining a clean work area. The sorter also monitors equipment start‑up, follows standard operating procedures, reports safety or equipment issues, and participates in regular safety meetings. • Inspect and sort materials by type, size, condition, or grade. • Remove contaminants from paper and work surfaces. • Stack and dump boxes, skids, and totes as needed. • Feed wastepaper onto the conveyor line. • Clean and maintain the sorting area and conveyor. • Monitor machine start‑up and ensure proper operation speed. • Follow standard operating procedures for equipment use. • Report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions. • Attend weekly or monthly safety and operations meetings. • Work in indoor garage/shop environments and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.
