About the Role

The inspector provides inspection support to engineers and project managers, ensuring construction complies with plans, specifications, contracts and codes. Responsibilities include field inspections of moderate‑scale projects, evaluating concrete placement, earthwork, structures, mechanical and electrical installations, foundations and environmental aspects, and producing accurate documentation that meets industry standards for safety, functionality and sustainability. Key tasks involve collecting and analyzing data from surveys, blueprints, technical drawings and site observations; using survey instruments and test equipment to assess conformance with rules and permits; providing technical assistance on ROW, materials and infrastructure; monitoring contractor work for quality control; attending pre‑construction meetings; writing technical reports with photographs, sketches and calculations; assisting with risk identification, work‑plan preparation and coordination; training entry‑level staff; and maintaining ethical conduct according to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Perform field inspections of transmission lines, substations and related infrastructure to verify compliance with design and regulatory standards. • Collect, compile and analyze site data, surveys, drawings and material samples using survey instruments and test equipment. • Generate detailed inspection reports, including photographs, sketches, calculations and recommendations. • Monitor contractor work, ensure quality control and document progress and issues. • Provide technical assistance and guidance on right‑of‑way, materials, structures and mechanical systems. • Attend pre‑construction meetings and coordinate inspection schedules with clients and contractors. • Train and mentor entry‑level inspection staff. • Identify and assess project risks, offering analysis and mitigation strategies. • Travel across Nevada, working up to 12 hours per day in extreme weather and handling physical tasks such as lifting 50 lb and walking 3‑5 miles on rough terrain. • Maintain ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license and at least five years of active field experience with transmission line work, foundations and substations. Proficiency in reading plans, Word and Excel, photo documentation, verbal and written communication, and the ability to travel, work extreme weather, lift 50 lb, walk 3‑5 miles on rough terrain and operate a pickup truck are required.
