About the Role
The Sprag Cell Operator cuts sprag stock to specified lengths, tumbles and visually inspects sprags, and prepares them for the next operation. This role also encompasses all tasks included in the Sprag Grind Classification. Key responsibilities include following standard work procedures, setting up, operating, and changing over sprag saws, and adjusting machine offsets. The operator monitors machinery, performs in‑process quality checks with various measuring tools, selects and secures fixtures and tools, reports malfunctions, maintains a clean 6S work area, tumbles and dries sprags per routings, inspects for visual defects, prepares sprags for heat treat, reads blueprints, changes tumble media, completes daily/weekly equipment maintenance, and documents in‑spec, scrap, and quality records. • Follow standard work procedures for Sprag Cell operations. • Set up, operate, and change over sprag saws, adjusting machine offsets as needed. • Perform in‑process quality checks using micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, digital meters, and optical comparator. • Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines. • Report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate parties. • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 6S principles. • Tumble, dry, and visually inspect sprags for pitting or other defects. • Prepare sprags for the heat‑treat process. • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to produce accurate parts. • Change tumble media and compound as required. • Conduct daily and weekly maintenance of saw and sort equipment. • Document in‑spec and scrap pieces and complete required quality paperwork. • Apply blueprint reading, measurement, and mechanical aptitude to ensure part quality.

What You Bring
Critical competencies required are blueprint reading, accurate part measurement, timing blade and CBN wheel changes, strict adherence to work instructions, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to interpret operating manuals and procedure documents. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; manufacturing experience is preferred. Good communication, teamwork, proficient blueprint reading, shop mathematics, and tolerance knowledge are essential. Physical requirements include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, use of material handling devices, and the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, with reasonable accommodations available for disabilities. The position is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and therefore requires applicants to be U.S. Persons—U.S. citizens, permanent residents, political asylees, or refugees. • Meet physical requirements: lift up to 25 lb, sit/stand for long periods, and use material handling devices. • Comply with ITAR—must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).
