About the Role

The Light Equipment Operator role requires operating handheld mechanical devices on project sites, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, forklifts, graders, drills, generators, saws, and pumps. The operator must understand safety hazards and use tools safely in plant operations or construction settings. Core duties involve reading load charts, interpreting hand signals, performing equipment inspections and minor maintenance, refueling, reporting malfunctions, and loading, transporting, and unloading materials and tools while assisting other craft workers as needed. • Read and interpret load charts. • Follow hand signals to place materials. • Conduct daily equipment inspections and fluid checks. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools. • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors. • Load, transport, and unload materials and supplies. • Assist other craft workers as needed. • Lift/push/pull up to 50 lb (occasionally 100 lb) and handle repetitive hand/arm tasks. • Operate cars, trucks, forklifts, and various hand/power tools. • Work in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). • Communicate clearly with management and follow safety directions. • Maintain focus amidst distractions and make sound decisions.
