About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic you will work in a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Paso Robles, CA hauling site, performing 2nd‑shift hours (2:00 pm–11:30 pm) Monday through Friday with no weekend work. The role emphasizes stability, safety, and the opportunity to grow within a thriving company. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing the trucks and equipment that serve over 20 million customers nationwide, using modern tools to service both diesel and CNG fleets. Your work will directly support local communities and keep the company’s extensive fleet running efficiently. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems. • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and new parts. • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs). • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls. • Conduct safety checks on vehicles to protect employees and the community. • Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times. • Assist senior mechanics with project work. • Review and address repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Maintain a clean, safe work area complying with Corporate and OSHA standards.

What You Bring
Qualified candidates bring at least two years of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, are 18 or older, legally authorized to work in the United States, and can meet the physical demands of the job. Successful applicants must also pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical assessment. • Preferred experience: hydraulics and AC systems (609 experience a plus). • Require at least 2 years of relevant work experience. • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Must be 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in the U.S. • Ability to meet physical demands with or without reasonable accommodations. • Pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical examination. • Physical demands include frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, standing, walking, and grasping; occasional sitting and balancing. • Exposure to occupational risks such as cuts, burns, and toxic chemicals; environment includes dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather. • Work performed both inside garages/shops and outdoors in inclement conditions.
