About the Role
The scaffold builder will lead and supervise a crew, oversee the construction, erection, installation, and repair of wood, plywood, and metal scaffold systems, and ensure work follows engineering drawings and safety standards. • Provide industrial scaffold leadership. • Supervise scaffold builders constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing wood, plywood, and metal structures. • Build stairs and walkways. • Read and interpret prints, drawings, and plans. • Use hand and power tools for layout, measurement, marking, cutting, and material arrangement. • Perform crane/rigging hand signals when needed. • Operate industrial scaffold tools and materials. • Communicate inspection findings and walk‑down concerns. • Maintain strong communication with co‑workers and supervisors. • Uphold Zachry values and safety regulations. • Ensure reliable transportation. • Follow safety practices for operating equipment. • Work in all weather conditions and moderate to high noise environments.

What You Bring
ZACHRY is hiring an experienced NCCER‑certified Industrial Journeyman Scaffold Builder for a maintenance position at EXXON BMT in Beaumont, Texas. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license; the role does not include per‑diem pay. Primary duties involve erecting and dismantling scaffold structures. The job requires extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, and occasional work at heights, while wearing required personal protective equipment. Work is performed in all weather conditions and moderate to high noise environments, with exposure to various equipment and tools. ZACHRY provides a safe, drug‑free, equal‑opportunity workplace. The position requires a driver’s license and NCCER scaffold certification, a background check, and completion of medical screenings such as drug tests and pulmonary function tests. Safety training and orientation are mandatory before site entry. • Apply proficient mechanical skills. • Possess working knowledge of tube‑lock and pin‑lock scaffold systems. • Understand machine and tool design, use, repair, and maintenance. • Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment. • Demonstrate organization and time‑management abilities. • Exhibit good aptitude, manual dexterity, and reading comprehension. • Work effectively as a team player. • Use industrial hand and power tools reliably. • Former Zachry employee (preferred). • 4‑5 years industrial maintenance experience (preferred). • Vocational school training or on‑the‑job experience (preferred). • Perform extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, and occasional height work. • Wear required PPE such as hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, safety vest, gloves, and steel‑toe boots.
