About the Role
This role sits within Southern Water’s most ambitious Asset Management Programme to date, delivering complex, large‑scale infrastructure that will benefit communities, the environment and the regional economy. The successful candidate will act as a key commercial partner, shaping cost targets, procurement and contractual strategies across major projects. Employees are expected to support 24/7 incident response, ensuring rapid resolution of water service issues. During the interview process the manager will discuss any incident‑support rotas that apply to the position. Flexible working requests will be considered where possible, and candidates who are unsure whether they meet all criteria are encouraged to engage with the team. • Provide expert cost management, procurement and contractual strategy advice across major capital projects. • Support the full commercial lifecycle from feasibility and procurement through change control and dispute resolution. • Ensure robust governance, compliance and control of all commercial activities in line with best practice. • Collaborate with Project Managers and contractors to set realistic cost targets and contractual terms delivering value. • Drive continuous improvement in commercial risk management, value maximisation and stakeholder delivery.

What You Bring
We are looking for candidates with a construction or quantity surveying qualification and proven experience in commercial management on large‑scale infrastructure, utility or construction projects. A solid understanding of NEC contracts and commercial strategy both pre‑ and post‑contract is essential, as is the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. A collaborative mindset, strong commercial acumen and a passion for driving value and best practice are key to success.
