About the Role

The Practice Leader – Hydrodynamic Modelling provides strategic, technical and people leadership across the Practice, playing a critical role in driving business growth and delivering high‑quality, consistent outcomes for our clients. This role shapes technical excellence, builds capability, and strengthens our market position. As a key leader within Water Resources Australia, the Practice Leader oversees the Hydrodynamic Modelling knowledge community, driving continuous improvement and ensuring consistent processes, quality assurance, and best‑practice approaches are adopted across the business. This enables efficient delivery across projects of all scales and reinforces Stantec’s position as a Tier 1 industry leader in flood and stormwater modelling. The Practice Leader collaborates closely with Practice Leaders across Australia and New Zealand, as well as the Technical Delivery Leader – Water, to share knowledge, align ways of working, and promote consistency, supporting a unified and collaborative ANZ business. Reporting to the Market Leader – Water Resources, Australia, the role is responsible for supporting strategic business opportunities, delivering technical excellence through project delivery and automation, ensuring consistency and tool uptake, identifying and mentoring technical leaders, and overseeing the Practice Knowledge Community to build capability and share best practice. • Identify and develop strategic business opportunities and support major pursuits. • Lead technical excellence through high‑quality project delivery with automation and digital tools. • Ensure consistency in technical delivery and effective tool adoption across the market. • Mentor and support technical leaders within the practice. • Oversee the Practice Knowledge Community to build capability and share best practice. • Collaborate with Business Centre leaders to deliver consistent client outcomes. • Promote digital innovation and implement automated tools to improve productivity and reduce risk. • Facilitate regular internal forums for knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. • Support strategic bids with innovative technical approaches. • Support the Market Leader in strategic pursuits. • Deliver technical excellence through project delivery, emphasizing tool development and automation. • Identify technical leaders operating within the practice. • Maintain professional registration in a related field. • Connect with colleagues through the Developing Professionals Group. • Utilise mental health and wellbeing programs, including an employee assistance program.

What You Bring
