Manage defence contracts, procurement, risk and stakeholder engagement for tactical data link project

About the Role
We have an opportunity for a Commercial Support Officer to lead commercial and procurement activities for an advanced Tactical Data Link capability project in Canberra. The role will manage contracts, drive procurement strategies, oversee commercial risk, engage stakeholders, and support team development. • Manage Defence contracts (ASDEFCON) including changes, deliverables, performance, negotiations and approvals. • Lead procurement activities: develop strategy, evaluate tenders, assess risks and coordinate schedules. • Identify and mitigate commercial risks while ensuring compliance with Defence procurement policies and contract requirements. • Provide timely commercial advice, coordinate contract meetings and represent project interests in forums and workshops. • Support development of APS commercial staff and prepare internal briefs, reports and approval submissions.

What You Bring
• Extensive experience in Defence contract and procurement management, including ASDEFCON or equivalent documentation. • Strong understanding of Commonwealth probity requirements and ability to manage commercial risk. • In‑depth knowledge of procurement regulations and frameworks such as the PGPA Act and CPRs. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships. • Ability to work collaboratively or independently under pressure to meet tight deadlines, supported by relevant qualifications.
