About the Role
The Production Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager, is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating activities across the plant’s Planning, Production, Shipping, and Maintenance departments. This role ensures production objectives are met within budgetary standards while maintaining healthy labor relations with production employees. • Apply and oversee LEAN Manufacturing methods (SMED, DMS, KPIs, etc.) • Set performance objectives for Manufacturing, Shipping, Maintenance, and Yard/Planning supervisors with Plant Manager • Create and monitor Master Plans for Manufacturing, Shipping, Maintenance, and Yard/Planning • Coordinate and supervise supervisors and teams across all three shifts • Participate in shift start meetings to align operational priorities • Support shop‑floor teams and coach supervisors/team leads on management and performance leadership • Ensure compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly production plans • Lead the problem‑solving committee (PSP) to track actions and drive continuous improvement • Monitor performance indicators, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions • Support training, development, and cross‑training of operations personnel • Enforce company policies, procedures, and standards; communicate between operations and other departments • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, CAPEX deployment, and report progress to Plant Manager • Maintain harmonious labor relations, health and safety compliance, and collective agreement adherence • Contribute to health, safety, and environmental projects

What You Bring
• Technical or university education in engineering, industrial management, or related field • 7–10 years experience in production management, preferably in steel industry • Supervisory or operational management experience in manufacturing/steel • Strong leadership, organization, problem‑solving, prioritization, and conflict‑resolution skills • Knowledge of production processes and industrial safety standards • Experience in a unionized environment (asset) • Proficiency with continuous improvement tools (LEAN Manufacturing) • Advanced Microsoft Office skills; SAP knowledge (asset) • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written)
